COLUMBUS - YEAR 3

Columbus class 'wet but wonderful' trip to Magdalen Project. The children were all fantastic on our visit to the Magdalen Farm on Monday. They all participated with enthusiasm and worked well in their teams. After a lovely walk through the woods, we started the day investigating the River Axe. During the afternoon, we headed into the woods to build shelters in our tribal groups. Finally, we enjoyed a hot chocolate around the campfire.

The children in Columbus Class enjoyed a sunny morning of Sport, playing invasion games at Heathfield. The Heathfield Sports Ambassadors organised the events brilliantly, and, helped the children to learn and enjoy games including: 'Capture the Flag' and Handball. Thank you to Heathfield, and well done to all of Columbus Class who participated and worked really well in their teams.

Welcome back for the Summer Term. We hope you feel refreshed following your Easter holiday. Columbus Class were eager to perform Spring poems (even on the first day back to school). The children worked enthusiastically and were incredibly motivated to learn and try to perform a selection of poems linked to 'Spring'. In one session, they learnt their poems, some created actions to help their performance. Well done, Columbus Class. A great way to celebrate Spring!

Columbus Class have had a busy Spring Term. The children particularly enjoyed a trip to a Chocolate Factory...what a treat! We also had fun exploring the visiting 'Potato Bus'. To celebrate World Book Day, Columbus class chose to dress up as their favourite characters. It was a lovely day with lots of colourful costumes.

Welcome back to school for what has already been a busy start to the Spring Term. The children had a super time exploring 'Zumba' dance, as part of our introduction to the South America Topic. Here is a small collection of photographs to show some of the moves in action

Columbus Class Curriculum Jigsaw Autumn Term 2015

Autumn Term 2 (November 2015)

The children in Columbus Class have worked really hard during half term to find out facts about The Solar System and Planets. Some children decided to produce fantastic Power Point presentations, whilst others used their creative skills to make wonderful models explaining features of specific planets and the Solar System. Many children recorded their research using fact files. We have been able to collate a lovely fact file folder to add to our Solar System display. Thank you to all the children who have worked so enthusiastically on our Planets Project.

You should be very proud of yourselves. Well done.

Columbus Science: We have been learning about light and how shadows change througout the day

Columbus class enjoyed a visit from a story teller this week (WC 5.10.15). We enjoyed learning more about Ancient Greece and listening to an Ancient Greek Myth. We also had a fun drama session creating a 'freeze frame'
