Safeguarding Statement

Creech St Michael Safeguarding Statement

What is Safeguarding?

Safeguarding is defined as:

  • protecting children from maltreatment;

  • preventing impairment of children’s health or development;

  • ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care;

  • taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes*.

    Where a child is suffering significant harm, or is likely to do so, action should be taken to protect that child.

    Our school takes its responsibility for safeguarding very seriously.  Staff are encouraged to report any concerns about the wellbeing of our pupils to the Designated Safeguarding Officer or one of the deputies.

    Designated Safeguarding Officer:                              Jan McCarthy (Headteacher)

    Deputy Safeguarding Officer:                                    Sarah Brown (Senco)

    Deputy Safeguarding Officer (in training):              Sarah Gray (Teacher)

    If you are concerned about the welfare of a child you are encouraged to report it to one of the above or to ring Somerset Direct on 03001232224.

    In our school, adults attend safeguarding training every two years and the officers receive external updates to their training.

    For more information please refer to our Child Protection Policy and other policies that relate to the safety of our pupils.
