Kings College  Sports Hall Athletics Yrs 5/6

Eighteen children took part in the Central Venue League (CVL) SASP Athletics indoor tournament on Tuesday 23rd October.  They competed in events such as Soft Javelin, Chest push, Standing Long Jump, Obstacle RELAY, 4 X 1 relay, 4 x 4 relay and many more.  The children did really well and finished in 2nd place out of 12 schools.  We will await results from the other schools in Taunton to find out if we qualify for the Area Finals.  Well done to all of the children.

Girls Football Tournament 08/10/18

The Year 5/6 girls gave a superb performance at Kings College on Monday winning all of their five matches.  Team work was fantastic with great passing and awareness of positioning.  Some Year 5 children represented the school for the first time in a tournament and should be congratulated on their performance and attitude. Evie Raggot saved a penalty as Goal Keeper to keep a clean sheet and we saw some great goals from Kate, Ruby, Poppy and Hannah.

Our netball team have qualified for the county finals again.  This is the third of fourth year in a row. It will take place on Friday 13th April.

The date for the Taunton Area Play-Off Netball finals is now going to be on Monday 19th March.  This change is due to the adverse weather conditions last week delaying the other qualifying round in taking place.  The tournament will be held at Castle School and begin at 4.00pm, finishing at approximately 5.45pm. Letters to the team will be sent out with more details in due course.

CVL SASP NETBALL TOURNAMENT - Wednesday 21st February 2018

Congratulations to our netball teams which took part in the competitive round of the CVL Netball tournament yesterday held at Taunton Vale Sports Club.  Both teams played extremely well and won all of their games, conceding no goals!  As we are only able to enter one team into the competition, only the A team results were taken into account for the next round of the competition.  Based on their superb results, they are through to the Taunton Area Finals to be held on 6th March at Castle school. Well done to all the children involved in both the A and B teams.

CVL Indoor Athletics Competition - Thursday 2nd November 2017

Eighteen children from years 5 and 6 took part in the SASP CVL Indoor Athletics competition hosted by Kings College this evening.  The children performed extremely well with great support and encouragement from Mr Cooke.  Their hard work and talent paid off and won us first place in the competition with an overall finishing place of second in the whole of Taunton - (there was another competition for other schools in the Taunton area held on Tuesday).  This means we have now qualified for the county finals. The date is yet to be confirmed.

CVL Handball tournament at Heathfield Community School Tuesday 31st October 2017

Well done to our Year 5 and 6's who took part in a handball tournament this week. Some of the children hadn't ever played handball before but with the experience of others in the team, superb teamwork and encouragement towards each other the outcome was a huge success.  We won all of our games convincingly apart from our final game against St Andrews where it was very evenly balanced and we just managed to win by 7 goals to 5.  It was lovely to see the children working so well together and wanting each other all to have the chance to score, (which they did).

Girls Football Tournament at Kings College, Monday 2nd October 2017

Our goal scorers were: Paradis (3), Hannah (2), Allana (2), Poppy (1), Rosie (1).

Girls Football Under 11's County Finals

A massive congratulations to our girls' football team (Years 4,5 & 6) who played in the County football finals on Friday 13th January 2017.  The event took place at Bridgwater College Academy which the girls qualified for by finishing second in the Taunton Area finals.  This was the first year that Creech has ever entered this competition and even getting through to the finals was a huge achievement in itself.  The girls played superbly and battled really hard against some very tough competition.  The progression that was seen in their overall performance is to be commended.  Unfortunately, the girls narrowly missed out to a place in the semi-finals but should come away feeling very proud of themselves.  Well done.

CVL Girls Football Years 5/6 Taunton Area Finals

Family Funs

Our weekly Family Funs sessions are for Reception Children and their families. We have lots of fun together  whilst developing our health, physical,  and personal and social skills. The sessions focus on the key fundamental movement skills that all children should have by the time they finish Key Stage One. We have really noticed an improvement in the children's fine motor control and writing as a result of taking part in these sessions.
