There was lots of excitement this week as Mrs Howlett came to visit with Baby Imogen and Sienna. The children asked lots of fantastic questions (and some rather funny ones too)!
'Our House' - Easter Holiday Homework Challenge
My House Sheet - Please help your child to complete this sheet during the holiday if possible, it will really help them with our topic work next term.
Each day this week we have had a writing challenge out during our Busy Time. So many of the children have chosen to take part and we've been really impressed with their independent writing.
World Book Day and Victorian Day
What a busy and very exciting week we've had! On Thursday we dressed up as book characters for World book Day, and had some lovely bedtime stories with Shackleton Class. Then on Friday we dressed up as Victorians and took part in lots of fun workshops........
Half Term Holiday Challenge
#Happy & Healthy
We have been thinking about ways of keeping healthy and would like the children to continue to think about this during the holiday.
We would like you to keep a record of the healthy things that you do together in half term. It might be a picture of you at the park or going for a walk/ bike ride. It could be a photo, or some writing of a yummy healthy meal that you’ve had. It might be them fast asleep getting a good night’s sleep or brushing their teeth! You can present this in any way you like but we would love everyone to take part so that we can look at it together after the holiday and add it to their learning journal.
These are the objectives we are trying to cover:
PD (HSC) 40-60 Eats a healthy range of foodstuffs and understands need for variety in food.
40-60 Shows some understanding that good practices with regard to exercise, eating, sleeping and hygiene can contribute to good health.

Children in Need (People who Help Us)
We love having fun and exploring in Submarine Class. Our teachers are Mrs Dawber and Mrs Howlett and we also have lots of other adults who help in our classroom - they are Mrs Wojna, Miss Robinson, Mrs Borman, Miss Farr, Miss Littlewood and Mr Taylor.
We have a fantastic outdoor area where we love to do activities such as: den building, digging, making assault courses for the balance bikes and scooters, playing on our fantastic climbing equipment, mark making and lots of fun counting activities.
Busy time takes place throughout the day, this is a time when we are busy learning through play, inside and outside. We help the teachers plan the activities, sharing our ideas and interests. We are beginning to learn where all the resources are in the classroom, so we can make our own choices and select resources independently! Whilst we are playing the adults help us to challenge ourselves and develop our learning. Some of our learning takes place through Adult-directed activities, this is when we work with a grown up to do a specific job. The photos below show some of the things we've been been doing in our busy time.......
Multicutural Week - South America
Our week started with a surprise visit from Paddington Bear! We have had great fun writing postcards to Aunt Lucy in Peru, to let her know that Paddington is safe. We had a real giggle in our classroom as we had a dance alarm and every time it went off we had to start Salsa dancing! The children have loved taking part in dance and drumming workshops, learning about Fairtrade products (they loved the chocolate!) and using the atlases to find out about South America. The grand finale was on Friday when we had a huge Rio Carnival parade with all the flags, instruments and costume jewellery that we'd made during the week.
Visit from the Police....
We have been thinking about the jobs that different people do, including our family members. We found out that lots of different people work at night time!
Last week we couldn't believe our eyes when we came into the classroom.......there were feathers and twigs everywhere, and a baby owl was sitting in a nest with a letter for us. We followed the feathers through the school to the library where we found the owl mother!
Our Surprise Visit from a Diver!
The children were very excited to have a surprise visit from Imogen (a real life diver!) who brought Ben the Diver, our new class mascot, with her.....
The children have been having lots of fun exploring the classroom, finding resources and making new friends....
Here are some photos of us learning and exploring in Submarines Class.....
