World Book Day - Thursday 2nd March 2017

All of the children (and adults!) in Akela class dressed up today as their favourite book characters.  Thank you for making such an effort, there were some fantastic costumes!  Congratulations to Layla who won the 'Best Costume' as 'The Mad Hatter'.

Look at our great costumes!

Thursday 19th January 2017 - Trip to The SS Great Britain

"All hands on deck!"

We had a fantasdic day.  We had a guided tour around the ship and got to see how different classes lived on board. Many of the children weren't too keen on the rats and funny smells though!

We even donned our time travelling helmets and took a journey back in time; where we got the chance to help finish building the SS Great Britain before experiencing the party atmosphere of its launch, in 1843. A day to remember!

Tuesday 27th September 2016. Akela class enjoyed a visit to Staple Farm for Taste the Harvest this morning. We were lucky with the weather and the children had a super time learning about: what happens to wildlife during Harvest time, why worms are so important and which farm machines the farmers use to plant the seeds and harvest the crops. A highlight of the morning was baking bread on a stick, over an open fire - then eating it with lashings of jam or honey!
