Friday 16th July - EYFS trip to Ferne Animal Sanctuary

Butterfly release day - we have watched them change from caterpillars into butterflies and now it is time to release them into the world!

Have a lovely half-term! smiley

Thursday 27th May

"Mrs Morris, you've got to come and see what we've found!"

We were all very surprised today when a hedgehog visited our outdoor area!  It was lovely for the children to see the hedgehog up close but we were very careful to stay quiet and not frighten her.  Yes 'her', we found out later that it was an expectant mother!  We took great care in moving her to a much safer (and quieter!) place within the school grounds.

Using the Chrome Books for the first time.

W/C 19th April 2020

It is good to be back to school this week and we have been making the most of the lovely weather!

We have been playing on our new trikes and scooters. Don't we look smart in our new helmets too?

We went on a 'Signs of Spring' walk and enjoyed looking for lots of things which told us it was Springtime. We thought that the blossom was beautiful!

We learned all about St George and chose lots of different things that we wanted to do to celebrate the special day. We painted flags, made our own shields, retold the story using puppets we had made and the small world castle, knights and dragons. Some of us even attempted a little Morris Dancing and did a show for Mrs Morris!

Parents' Consultation Meetings - Spring 2021

12.3.21 The egg has started to hatch! We can see what looks like an eye. We are wondering what it could be.

10.3.21 Something has laid an egg in our classroom!

Something has laid an egg in our classroom! We don't know what or how.

We discussed what we thought it might be:

"a unicorn", "a dinosaur", "a grizzly bear", "a chick", "a fox".. We have learnt about what animals lay eggs and which don't.

We decided that we shouldn't touch it so we put tape around it and made signs to warn people:

"Please stay away from the egg."

"Don't touch.  Don't cross the tape."

Some children decided to draw pictures of other eggs to keep the egg company.

We read a story about a boy, who read to an egg he found to make it hatch.  Some children decided to do the same.
Chinese New Year - This week (w/c 12.2.21) we have been learning all about Chinese New Year.  We were very lucky today because Water Voles Y1 children performed a Dragon Parade for us.  They did a dragon dance, showed us their dragon masks, shared some of their non-chronological reports and even gave us money envelopes!  We enjoyed it so much we had a go at a dragon dance ourselves afterwards.

17th December 2020

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Today we have watched 'Aladdin', had our lunch in the classroom and had a very special visitor!

"Yes Santa, we have been good girls and boys!"

Wishing you all a very merry Christmas and a happy, healthy new year.  Have fun! From all of the Dormice adults.

Our Nativity

This afternoon we had great fun dressing up and acting out the Nativity story with the children in Water Voles Class.  We all sang beautifully too!

Here we are proudly standing in front of our Christmas post office before we started.
Take a look at some more photos on Water Voles class page.
